It is quite amazing how many people lived in Waterside in 1881.
In Tamar Street overcrowding was the norm.
In 26 Tamar Street there lived three families:
Jacob Glanville family was 7
Edward Gould had 6.
John Dunsford had 4.
The two with the most people living in them were:
29 Tamar Street which had 33 living there.
The families were Greet, Pope, Browning, Thomas, Keith and another Pope family.
30 Tamar Street had a total of 32.
These were Johns, Blake, Grant and Richards.

A painting outside The Ashtorre Centre painted by David Whittley. It represents a shop in Pickle Cockle Alley also known as Tamar St.
